Term 1

Welcome to Year 1.  We look forward to an exciting term ahead and getting to know you all.

We are so excited to start Term 1 with you and can’t wait for all the new and exciting learning we have planned. This term, we’ll be diving into wonderful new stories in English, exploring numbers and sorting in maths, and discovering more about our local area in geography. In science, we’ll be learning all about animals, including humans, and in music, we’ll have lots of fun playing the glockenspiels! These are just a few of the exciting things ahead.  If you would like to know more about each subject, click on the termly overview at the bottom of this page – it’s going to be a fantastic start to Year 1, and we’re looking forward to learning and growing together.  

Homework 

The children will start bringing a new reading book home on Thursdays.  Book change day will then continue to be every Thursday for this term.  Children must return their book on a weekly basis in order to receive the next book. 

Regular reading and listening to stories is highly recommended as this year your child will complete the statutory Year 1 Phonics Screening check in June.  More information about this will follow soon.
