PE Days - Term 4 we will be learning Fitness and Tag Rugby
Monday & Friday
In Term 4, our learning will revolve around the topic of Sustainability.
In English this term, we will be reading 'Dear Greenpeace', 'The Secret Sky Garden' and 'The Paper Bag Princess'. The children will learn about the features of a non-fiction text, such as title, subheadings, captions, diagrams and the use of a glossary. When reading 'Dear Greenpeace' we will explore the fascinating facts about the endangered Blue Whale and write our own fact files about it.
In Maths, children will develop their number knowledge by working with numbers up to 50. The children will be able to retrieve skills they have already learnt, such as the part-whole model and ten frames to understand numbers to 50. Later in the term, we will learn about measure, including centimetres, metres, heavier, lighter, full, empty, capacity and volume.
Science will be focused on materials. This will link closely with our topic of Sustainability, as the children explore materials that can and cannot be recycled.
In Music, the children will learn about dynamics, rhythm, texture, melody and form. They will explore these areas through singing, listening and clapping.
In Computing, the children will use Purple Mash to find out ways to sort information on a pictogram. The children will be able to collect data, record it on their pictogram and analyse it together.
On Tuesday 20th February at 9am and 3:20pm, we will be holding a Phonics workshop for parents to explain the homework, phonics and up-coming phonics screening check in more detail. Please use the form to book the meeting you are able to attend: https://forms.office.com/e/6KYtWtmUAg
Every Friday, your child will bring home two new reading books. We expect the children to be reading for 15-20 minutes each night and for their reading record to be signed.
The children have a NumBots and Spelling Shed log in stuck into the front of their reading record. Your child can access this at their leisure but will not be set homework. Both websites are a great tool for your child to consolidate their learning at school.
